The main aim of the expert group is to give motivated members of the BiH Diaspora, who possess knowledge, skills, experience and contacts in the sector of culture, the possibility to actively get involved in the work of i-platform and to develop ideas, initiatives and projects, that contribute to the development within the cultural sphere in BiH.
During the first meeting, the concept of expert groups was presented and thematic priorities and the next steps were defined.
After a short presentation of the aims and concept of the expert groups followed a discussion, where the participants had the possibility to mention the subsectors of culture, in which they are interested in and within they are willing to work and develop project ideas. The following subsector were mentioned:
- Fostering the development of libraries in Bosnia and Herzegovina
- Focus on libraries in small cities and villages
- Many libraries are in a poor condition, but a concrete analysis regarding the general condition and situation of libraries in BiH is not existing by now
- Music: Organising concerts of BiH artists in Switzerland
- Humour: Focus on the stand-up comedy scene in BiH
- Supporting and fostering the development of museums in Bosnia and Herzegovina:
- primarily focussing on museums in big cities
- regarding history as a huge and important part of culture - Support for the children's home «Bjelave»: organising humanitarian and fundraising events
- Transfer of knowledge and experience within the art scene between BiH and Switzerland
- The art scene in BiH is very active
- BiH artists unfortunately do not have many opportunities to present and show their artistic work --> Match-Making between BiH artists and Swiss artists and cultural institutions; organising exhibitions as a cultural transfer
The second meeting of the expert group "culture" will take place on Saturday, 23 September 2017 in Bern. The main aim of the second meeting is to concretise the project ideas and initiatives focussing on elaborating a strategy and defining the main aims of the first project concept.
