Zenica Meet Up

The tenth Zenica Meetup marked by the success stories of the Zenica diaspora

The tenth Zenica Meetup was held on December 21, and over two and a half hours of effective work, socializing, and talking passed so quickly.

In his introductory speech, our representative, Safet Kubat, informed the audience about past activities, the support of the young couple Buro in the form of buying domestic products, an open IT company, as well as new jobs. This was followed by the presentation of new members of the Zenica Meetup family, whose stories were the focus of this meeting.

One of the most successful women from Zenica, Anida Šabanović-Powel, the director of one of the largest banks in Detroit, America, made us happy with her presence at the Meetup. Anida told us how her journey went from being a 16-year-old girl who left Zenica to being a director of a state bank.

In addition, she presented three projects she is currently working on, namely the Children's Museum, which recently opened, a platform within her bank, and the Bosnian Cultural Center, the construction of which she announced soon.

With her presence, Anida expressed her support for us, and pointed out what she would like to say about Zenica, and sent great messages. After Anida, we virtually moved from America to Japan. Ours, Elma Kablar, and Safet Kubat shared with the audience the details of the organization of the first Zenica trail race, what are the next steps, and how to support the realization of the race.

The topic of this Meetup was again air pollution, and it was agreed to transfer knowledge and examples of good practice from Austria, as possible solutions to this problem. In addition, solar panels, organic production, and concrete solutions for a fair transition were discussed at this meeting.

During the talks from Japan, we moved to Ulm, Germany, where we received concrete proposals for the implementation of projects in the field of organic production, but also an initiative for a crowdfunding campaign called "One man, one eco bench".

From Ulm, we virtually went to Austria, where we agreed that our company Ene will be one of the partners in the formation of the future IT Academy.

Our tenth meeting ended with the positive energy and New Year’s wishes we wished each other.

The next Meetup will be dedicated to reporting on implemented activities, as well as portfolios and plans for next year. Until then, think about what Zenica wants and can offer, and how you can help in its progress, so join us at the next Meetup.
