Preparations for the Zenica eco race are being finalized: Applications open until March 15!
Let's protect Smetovi - let's declare it a protected area;
We run above the clouds - our escape from excessive air pollution;
With the green race, we draw attention to the fact that less is more - less waste production, less plastic, less use!
The stated goals are what motivates the organizers, but also the future participants of this race.
About the race
Steel trail Zenica has so far attracted over 110 participants who applied to participate via this link, from as many as 11 countries. We are especially pleased with the fact that the participation of as many as 40 children will beautify the race itself. Also, an invitation was sent to children, protégés of the Dom porodica from Zenica, which certainly gives this event a special, inclusive character.
The project itself, in addition to well-known organizers, has so far been financially supported by the Turkish company "Cengiz", as well as some private individuals. Part of the funds is used to finance the creation of 200 permanent markings, 18 trophies (for children, women and men), as well as a design for shirts that will be distributed to participants, with the inscription "running above the clouds". It is important to note that behind the project itself is the surprise partner, which provides logistical support to the race for now.
However, the organizers place special emphasis on the promotion of the local community. In this way, many locals will have the opportunity to offer participants and visitors of this event their products (food, drinks, souvenirs, etc.), as well as accommodation facilities, which is certainly a step forward in the promotion of rural tourism. For now, we offer accommodation facilities in the village of Orahovica, near Zenica.
Also, on that day, cleaning and planting actions will be organized, and for now it is planned to plant a giant king kong sunflower that can grow up to 5 meters in height.
Virtual race
The organizers of Steel Trail Zenica also thought about all the runners who will be prevented from attending this event, on March 27. That is why they came up with the idea of organizing a virtual race that will be able to run until that day at the latest. Participants choose the length of the race, and it does not have to be run in one day. But in order to be able to participate, you first need to install applications such as Strava, Runkeeper or something similar, and, during the race, use a smart watch or mobile device, on which you will record your result. Basic information
Let us remind you, these are three trails called Piccolo Smet, Mali and Veliki Smet, in the length of 2-20 km. You can apply for them by March 15 at the latest, so don't wait long. The number of places is limited! All additional information can be found at steeltrailzenica.com.
