Zenica Meet Up

Another "Zenica Meetup" was held!

On Tuesday, June 14, i-Diaspora, in cooperation with representatives of the City Administration of Zenica and the Association "5 Million Friends of Bosnia and Herzegovina" organized another gathering with the Zenica Diaspora, where we mostly talked about information technology.

On that occasion, old and new participants of the Meetup gathered and, based on their own experience, spoke about Zenica's potential for growth and development of IT in this city.

At the beginning, the question arose whether the IT world in Zenica was an opportunity or a nuisance.

Meetup participants pointed out that the expansion of small IT companies has been happening in Zenica recently, that Zenica IT experts are often forced to work for foreign clients because they provide much better working conditions compared to domestic ones, and that the current situation is such that the demand for IT professionals is much higher than the market supply.

Due to all the above, the question arose how to keep young, promising people in this city, but also how to teach older generations of IT professionals new methods of work and how, in general, motivate them to adopt new knowledge.

The most answers to these questions were offered by Tarik Mutapčić, a Zenica entrepreneur living in Zagreb who, for the first time, participated in the "Zenica Meetup".

The representative of the i-diaspora, Safet Kubat and the representative of the City Administration of Zenica, Maša Škrbić, proposed organizing a thematic meeting which would exclusively discuss the opportunities and difficulties for the development of the IT world in Zenica, and which would bring together and representatives of the University of Zenica, and representatives of the Zenica Development Agency (ZEDA).

There was also talk about the possible creation of a multifunctional center in which numerous workshops and trainings would be held, accounting services and an IT hub would be created. But for this idea to come to life, it takes the effort and will of all parties involved, as well as, of course, the Zenica diaspora.

All in all, we have a lot of work ahead of us, so we invite you to join us in as many numbers as possible and, with your suggestions, contribute to the betterment of your hometown.
