Margrit Moser: Swiss lover of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Margrit Moser, a woman, mother, grandmother, friend, likes to say that she is a "senior activist" who works to improve the lives of vulnerable categories. The person who, as she says, has a Swiss passport, which she is extremely proud of, points out that quite often, unfortunately, she does not agree with the political behavior of this country. But she agrees with the fact that her second love is BiH, a country of beautiful natural resources, which she is very happy to visit.

Like many other people from abroad, before visiting Bosnia and Herzegovina, Margrit Moser considered it a poor country that is still struggling with the consequences of the war. As she says, her first association in BiH was Srebrenica, but also Bosnian refugees who found their happiness, both in Switzerland and in other countries around the world. However, that opinion, but also prejudices, will change thanks to the connection with the i-diaspora, that is, our executive director, Nikola Burić.

Visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina

Considering the numerous positive information she received regarding Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also considering the fact that Moser is an extremely curious person who is "thirsty" for knowledge, in 2021 she decided to visit our country. The visit was a group visit as part of which she visited numerous BiH cities.

"The trip was led by journalist Erich Rathfelder, whom I know from a previous gathering in Kosovo. Thanks to my previous experience, I was sure that I would get authentic information from him. We were in Sarajevo and from there we visited many other places, all realized in cooperation with Amela Maldosevic, art historian."

In addition to the cities shown in the pictures, next week she visited Zenica, Travnik, Jajce and Lipa, but this time alone. On that occasion, she met with some representatives of the i-diaspora, but also other people living in Bosnia and Herzegovina, who set aside time for Margrit's stay, and tried to make her experience in this country as positive as possible.

"The team met me at the bus station, they tried to find me accommodation, and they took the time to introduce me to the beauties of this country, but also to present the living conditions in BiH. They were sincerely ready to answer on many questions. I am really grateful for the opportunity to meet Safet, Enes, Nestor, Amel and Daka. Thanks to you, I fell in love with Bosnia and Herzegovina. You are amazing people. "

Return to Switzerland

Upon returning to her homeland, Margrit became richer for many things - she learned a lot about the history of BiH, the background and consequences of the war, economic and environmental problems, the complicated political system, nationalism and separation, education, brain drain, on unemployment and lack of perspective. As she says, she especially learned that during the first seven days spent in BiH.

"Impressions of the second week in BiH were very personal and full of emotions: I love nature, rivers, waterfalls and canyons, hills and forests. I experienced the hospitality and openness of people, and their cordiality. I am deeply impressed by the compassion of people I met, so I want to continue to work for change, to work for a better future, to support others, to keep the hope of my dreams."

In the end, Margrit adds that she fell more and more in love with this country every day she spent in BiH, and that, of course, she plans to return to it many more times. Considering this trip one of the most important in her life, she hopes that in the future she will have the opportunity to meet many Bosnians and Herzegovinians in the homeland, but also our emigrants who currently live in Switzerland.
