This year's first Diaspora Online Check - in was held

After a one-month break, the well-known participants of the meeting called "Diaspora Online Check-in", gathered on February 3rd and, in a very positive atmosphere, informed each other about the successes of the state ministry and diaspora organizations.

A project lasting more than a year, created by the close cooperation of employees of the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH - Emigration Sector, with representatives of diaspora organizations, such as the pangea network from Germany, i-platform based in Switzerland, BHUF from Sweden, BH Roots and the Board of B&H Teachers from Denmark, the Cultural Society of Bosniaks "Preporod" from Split and the Association of Bosnian Associations, which also operates in Denmark, continued to traditionally gather these participants. However, in addition to well-known faces, last night we were joined by new ones, eager for positive information regarding the activities of the BiH diaspora.

New working year

On behalf of the Ministry, Mr. Kemo Sarač addressed the audience, talking about their previous and future activities. In the past period, they stayed in Split, where they met with Mr. Edin Nurkić, president of the Bosniak Cultural Society "Preporod" from Split, as well as with members of the Bosniak community in Split. But this was not the only activity of the ministry. They also visited Doboj and Ključ, where they presented their work, regularly monitored the work of diaspora representatives around the world, and held talks with potential partners from Germany and Austria.

In addition to Mr. Sarač, Mr. Nikola Burić, CEO of the i-platform, addressed the audience, who introduced the participants to the planned registration of the sister company i-platform in Bosnia and Herzegovina, spoke about our success as partners of numerous organizations, he pointed out that the i-platform is recognized as an organization of public importance, which we are extremely proud of, he spoke about the launch of projects "Diaspora Lab" and "Integration Lab", about many other future projects, but also announced the continuation of successful projects such as monthly meetups. But the most important thing of all is the fact that we have become part of the SDC's global migration program, entitled "Global Program Migration and Forced Displacement Program Framework 2022-25", in the field of Strategic component 3, which refers to the contribution of migrants to sustainable development of their countries of origin. In all this, we stand side by side with organizations such as IOM, GIZ, Swisscontact, UNCDF and others.

New participants

Ms. Hana Fifić from Bihać, and Ms. Džana from Janja, both living in Switzerland, after hearing about this event, decided to join us and hear what organizations in the diaspora are doing. One of their goals for such a thing is the desire for better integration among Bosnians in this country.

In addition to them, last night's meeting was attended by Bosnian and Herzegovinian women living in Denmark, then the representative of the Mozaik Foundation, Ms. Ajna Gazibegović, who announced the upcoming presentation of the Foundation's latest project, called "Diaspora".

Also, the esteemed Mr. Edo Šabanagić took part in this project and informed the audience about the "5 million Friends of Bosnia and Herzegovina" project.

The next meeting of this type is scheduled, again, in a month.
