The International Online Podium conference: promotion of transdisciplinary cooperation and cross-border learning

i-diaspora, in cooperation with the University of Tuzla and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Northwest Switzerland, is organizing an online conference on June 22 and 23 this year to discuss weaknesses in solving social problems and challenges in Switzerland and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The current pandemic has revealed weaknesses in dealing with social problems and challenges in Switzerland and Bosnia & Herzegovina. These weaknesses are particularly evident where important social services can no longer be provided or can only be provided to a limited extent; thus, the situation of people who are dependent on assistance deteriorates noticeably. This is a challenging situation both for professionals and those seeking help. At the same time, pressing social issues such as fleeing and trauma have disappeared from public awareness. While in crisis, professional support services are becoming increasingly important. The possibility to respond and the conception of services are essentially dependent on the existing contextual conditions and the necessary attention and sensitivity to the need for support.

The International Online Podium addresses selected topics and offers the opportunity to discuss professional opportunities and experiences that can contribute to maintaining and promoting the capability of professionals to act under challenging circumstances.

On the first day we will focus on the importance of selfreflection in professional social work and provide insight into a method of intervision.

On the second day, we will discuss the need and possible ways to support vulnerable people who have fled and have experienced trauma as well as the impact of trauma on professionals’ response to the refugee crisis.

The conference will be held online, completely free of charge.

To participate, you need to forward your basic information (name, surname, indicate in which institution / company / organization you operate and in which function) to the e-mail karin.lundsgaard [at] fhnw.ch no later than June 15.

Further instructions and the link for participation will follow registration.

We hang out on June 22 from 9:00 am - 4:45 pm and on June 23 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

See you!
