Fourth Diaspora Online Check - In

On 5th of November.2020, between 16:00 and 17:15, Fourth Diaspora Online Check-In was held. The meeting was attended by representatives of diaspora organizations from Germany (PANGEA / Network of BiH students and academics), Switzerland (i-platform), Denmark (SBHUD and BiH Academics) and the Federation of BiH associations from Norway, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH - Sector for Emigration.

Representatives of the Sector for Emigration briefed the participants on the activities carried out by the Sector for Emigration in the period between the two meetings, and especially on contacting the Foundation "Mozaik" which will be a partner for Component III of Project D4D, and refers to philanthropic activities. It was emphasized that connections will be established with other humanitarian organizations and that good cooperation is expected in the upcoming period.

Representatives of diaspora organizations were introduced to the public invitation of the "Mozaik" Foundation for recognitions in the field of philanthropy for diaspora, as follows:

  • Award for individual philanthropy to persons from BiH diaspora - for this award can be nominated individuals over 17 years of age who originate from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and live in the diaspora and whose philanthropic activities work for the benefit of communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In this category, individuals from the diaspora who have contributed to philanthropy in BiH through diaspora organizations can be nominated.
  • Award for corporate philanthropy to companies founded or owned by expatriates from BiH - this award can be nominated for companies founded or owned by expatriates from BiH for which corporate philanthropic activity in Bosnia and Herzegovina is an integral part of their business.
  • Latest update of information was exchanged at the meeting, and since the representative of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina associations from Norway attended the meeting for the first time, representative of PANGEA / BH Network of students and academics briefly presented to Mr. Bećirović the first Digital Workspace for Diaspora created by representatives of organizations from Germany and Switzerland in the MURAL application, which will serve as a space for networking and communication between organizations in the Diaspora / emigration, for the presentation of project ideas and joint activities in their implementation, as well as space for cooperation with the Ministry. It was emphasized that the Digital Workspace will be refined in accordance with the needs of organizations from diaspora.
  • In the end, mutual expectations were expressed that representatives of the Youth Network in Norway and Sweden would join at the next meetings, and the Ministry expressed unreserved support for all activities of diaspora organizations with partner organizations and local communities in BiH.
