From Switzerland, Edin Dacić runs two wood factories in Bosnia and Serbia with around 700 employees. 102 items are manufactured there for Ikea, which are sold worldwide. Dacić, who studied international relations with a focus on economics in St. Gallen, spends three to four days a week in his production facilities. Initially, one of the biggest problems for Edin Dacić was the lack of qualified specialists. There was simply no training for middle and senior management in the timber industry. On his initiative, a one-year course was developed at the University of Applied Sciences for Wood and Architecture in Biel, tailor-made for middle managers in the timber industry in Bosnia.
