This summer in Bihać the summer school of native language and culture called "We speak ours!" will be organized

The city of Bihać, in cooperation with the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina, organizes a summer school of native language (Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian language) and culture ′′ We speak ours!" which will be held in Bihać from 26th to 30th July and from 9th to 13th August 2021.

The purpose of this project is to promote and affirmate the language and culture of Bosnia and Herzegovina for young people from the diaspora aged 11 to 18. Through classes, students will get to know the culture, tradition and history of Bosnia and Herzegovina in an interesting and fun way, along with learning languages.

School is completely free. 

What is the goal of this project?

The goal of the summer school is to train students for quality and correct use of native (Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian) languages in speaking, reading and writing, which will be achieved by the program of language courses adapted to different levels of knowledge and interests of students and cultural lectures and workshops, with a tour cultural and historical and natural landmarks of Bihać region.

The students will be divided into several groups according to the level of knowledge, age group or interest. The program consists of organized forms of classroom and field teaching, workshops of folklore and literary translation, writing with glagoljica, cyrillic, Bosnian and arebica, visits to the museum, medieval castle and selected locations in the National Park "Una".

As part of five days of Summer School, fifty school hours of different teaching and educational activities will be performed. Thirty hours are intended for education through language and speech exercises adapted to the previously determined knowledge of the native language, namely its grammar, spelling, and twenty school hours are intended for learning through different educational and cultural activities.

The City of Bihać claims that the preparations for the first summer school in Bihać are nearing completion, so they invite BiH emigrants to include this activity in their vacation, and to choose one of the two terms offered.

"Connect pleasantly with useful and at the same time enjoy learning Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian language as well as the natural beauties and tourist potentials offered by the city of Bihać," said the representatives of the City.

All activities will be held in accordance with the prescribed epidemiological measures related to the control of the Covid-19 epidemic, and in this regard, emphasis will be placed on teaching and accompanying outdoor activities.

As the interest of citizens in this project is significant and as it is realized during the holidays, it will be possible to provide all-day hotel accommodation for course participants or their accompaniment, with extended accompanying activities.
