Konjuh – Your Next Destination

Rare are the places like mountain Konjuh where nature was so rich and giving that it made the scenery of the mountain attractive and satisfactory to both athletes and recreationists, as well as to those who want to simply enjoy and relax while surrounded by natural wonders.

In recent times, evident steps towards tourism development have been taken. Each next activity and step is planned on a higher level, which is visible in solid and concrete tourism statistics.

The authorities of the municipality of Kladanj recognized enormous natural wealth and resources of mountain Konjuh that is now seen as an accelerator of the economic growth of the entire municipality. Its potential lies in its beautiful landscape, fascinating hydrologic systems with the famous spring Muška voda, natural Paučko Lake, tremendously significant speleological objects like the well-known Djevojačka cave and Bebrava cave that is rich in cave decorations and has only recently been open for the public.

Even though it is placed in a relatively small area, Konjuh has a rich flora (protected native plants such as the great yellow gentian and daffodil) and fauna (protected animal species such as the hazel grouse, brown bear, and ibex).

Out of ten different species of woodpecker that live across Europe, eight of them can be found on mountain Konjuh.

In addition to its natural potential, Konjuh is also famous for its stećci. There are 598 of these monumental medieval tombstones that are located in 57 necropolises. The most renowned necropolis that is included on UNESCO world heritage list is found at Kuman Olovci.

During the winter times Kladanj is a quite popular tourist destination for all those who enjoy skiing as there is a ski resort and a ski lift, hiking in idyllic winter landscapes, and breathing fresh air. The youngest ones can also ski and experience winter joys. It is worth mentioning that the ski resort “Karaula” is the only such ski resort in Tuzla Canton and this part of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina overall.

A recently built Via Ferrata Paolo Dieci in Brateljevići enriched tourist potential of the area as it attracts a great number of visitors, adventurers and nature lovers. This is proven by the number of climbers that shared their experiences in the book of impressions even before Via Ferrata Paolo Dieci was officially open – there were over 500 climbers from Bosnia and Herzegovina and region.

The mountain lodge “Miljkovac”, the picnic area Studenac, the most recently discovered treasure Roman route, Tito’s cave and mountain cycling roads are all sites and localities that will evoke unmemorable experiences.

In order to ensure that each visitor and tourist is to enjoy all the potential and resources of mountain Konjuh and the municipality Kladanj, KonjuhLab association was created and started. With the help of their members (including individuals coming from various sport and mountaineering associations, as well as representatives of different public institutions and other individuals), package tours were arranged and defined. KonjuhLab thus guarantees that all tourist visits are to be professionally organized by service providers (accommodation, transport, food, tourist guides) – from mountain hikes and cycling tours to recreational familial strolls and visits to the natural and cultural-historical sites in Kladanj and the beautiful landscape of Konjuh.
