Diaspora Days – Forum "Brčko in the Heart": The Strength of Collaboration and Investment in the Homeland

Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina hosted the second Brčko Diaspora Forum "Brčko in the Heart" on August 26 and 27, 2025, a manifestation dedicated to strengthening ties between the District and its diaspora community.

The forum was officially opened by the Mayor of Brčko District, Siniša Milić, emphasizing strong commitment to building solid connections with the diaspora and highlighting the attractive investment advantages and strategic position of the District. The Head of the Department for European Integration and International Cooperation, Miroslav Geljić, reminded that the event follows the Diaspora Cooperation Development Strategy for the period 2025–2029, highlighting the importance of knowledge transfer and learning from diaspora experiences.

Speakers pointed out the diaspora’s readiness for investment and the advantages of the Port as a logistics hub. The event was also well received by representatives of state institutions, including the Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees of BiH.

i-platforma proudly supported the organization of the Forum "Brčko in the Heart", contributing value to this important event.

Within the framework of the manifestation, an important Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between i-platforma and the Department for European Integration and International Cooperation of the Brčko District Government of BiH, signed by Aldin Vrškić and Miroslav Geljić. The coordinator of i-platforma for Brčko District, Željko Novaković, made a special contribution by leading the full-day program and moderating both panels on the first day, successfully connecting topics of investment, economic potential, and dialogue between the diaspora and local institutions.

The Forum was extremely important for i-platforma, achieving key organizational goals – promoting dialogue and cooperation, creating concrete partnerships, and strengthening trust between the diaspora and local institutions. It is particularly significant that i-platforma, through the signed Memorandum and engagement of its team, contributed to the creation of sustainable models of cooperation and development for Brčko District.
