Kladanj Meet Up

The 7th Kladanj Meet Up and the first USA Kladanj Meet Up were held

Emigrants from Kladanj, despite numerous daily obligations, set aside time each month to socialize with their fellow citizens as part of the i-platform project "Kladanj Meet Up".

On this April 8th, we attended the seventh, now traditional gathering of the Kladanj diaspora with representatives of the i-platform, representatives of the Municipality of Kladanj and the citizens of this town in general. The multi-hour gathering, as usual, took place via the Zoom platform, and a special charm was given to it by new participants who have not had the opportunity to attend our gatherings so far.

New participants

So, the seventh "Kladanj Meet Up" was joined by Mr. Ajis Berković who moved to Sarajevo from his beloved Kladanj, the married couple Zlata and Edin Krekić, currently residing in Italy, esteemed ladies Azra Gojačić and Mia Black, returnees to Kladanj, and numerous other emigrants from Kladanj.

After the introductory presentation of the new participants, they were introduced to the work done so far, but also to new projects, new activities and building trust between emigrants, living around the world, and the i-platform.

6 activities for 8 months

In this regard, the representative of the i-platform, Ms. Dalida Karabdić and coordinator of this successful project pointed out that in eight months, as much as the current project "Kladanj Meet Up" managed to launch, or even implement six projects, extremely important for this city.

One of the first activities was the participation of the i-platform in the rehabilitation of central heating in the only kindergarten in Kladanj, "Edina Čamdžić", which enabled the children to stay and socialize with their friends.

At the same time, a three-phase power was introduced for the Association "Woman to Woman", which thanks to emigrants and the support of representatives of the i-platform now has many more members and works hard every day, with the selfless support of the Municipality of Kladanj. Volunteers Emsad Begić and Denis Karabdić also took part in this part of the electrical work.

It is important to note that a number of other works are planned, which should facilitate the work of the Association, and which the members of the Association are very happy about. All of the above will enable them to work even more productively, socialize, educate and organize numerous workshops.

Also, thanks to our esteemed Mrs. Sakiba, so far, for the needs of the youth of Kladanj, two baskets have been set up, one in Stupari and one in Kladanj, and it is planned to set up two more - one in Brateljevići and in the town itself.

A project called "Street Basket" is currently in negotiations.

We would also like to emphasize that, with the aim of environmental awareness, the "Green Corner" project was realized, whose importance has so far been recognized by numerous other organizations. Therefore, the implementation of another such project is planned at the Bebrava picnic area, at the location "Protected Landscape Konjuh", while the project called "City Market" received the necessary approval from IZ Kladanj and JPK Komunalac for temporary use of a certain area, for setting up a box libraries, which is extremely good news.

Towards the end of the virtual gathering, Ms. Karabdić informed the participants of the meeting that recently, at the invitation of a member of the Municipal Council, she introduced the councilors to our work, and revealed to the meet up participants that "Kladanj Meet Up" "moved" to another continent.

1st USA Kladanj Meet Up

Many emigrants from Kladanj, despite the good will, are not able to attend our regular gatherings due to the large time difference. Therefore, last Saturday, on April 10th, the first "Kladanj Meet Up" was organized, which was adapted to emigrants originating in the United States and Canada. This practice will certainly continue in the coming months.
