Documentary: THE DNA OF DIGNITY

11,000 people are still missing in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The DNA of Dignity takes the audience on a search for clues through forests, to mass graves and into a forensic laboratory. Filmmaker Jan Baumgartner accompanies the work of a team from the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP). The experts are trying to bring certainty to the relatives of the missing persons.
The DNA of Dignity is a calm, quiet film. It thrives on intense images, including those in which an entire human existence disappears into a plastic bag, reduced to bones, DNA and laboratory results. But it also shows how important it is for relatives to know what has happened to their loved ones. Only through the work of the commission can they come to terms with the sad past.
